Cotton Bowl thoughts

-- First thought was if LSU indeed was going to show up. The long kickoff return, an interception, a halfback pass for a touchdown, it wasn't looking good.

-- Second thought, LSU could run at will against those guys and was probably wishing for acceptance into the Big 12 Conference.

-- LSU's young secondary should be pretty salty for years to come.

-- Spencer Ware looks like he'll be quite all right if Stevan Ridley wants to try the NFL.

-- If Jordan Jefferson had played like that all season LSU wouldn't have been in the Cotton Bowl.

-- Don't automatically assume Jefferson won't be the starter next year. Consider that he has three years under his belt and Mettenberger will have one whole spring to try to unseat him.

-- While not a big Les Miles fan, I thought he was the best coach LSU could get at the time of Nick Saban's departure. Now if he were to leave for Michigan, I don't think LSU is going to find anybody better. It's just not a good time to be looking for a coach and you'll have to pay top $$$ to get anybody worthwhile.

-- So 11-2 it is. What say you Tigers fans? Was this season an A? B? C? Let us know.

The 1st quarter did not look so good, but the defense and Jefferson showed up. Give Crowton a month to prepare, and he's great.
I thought Mettenberger was a lock for the job next year but Jefferson is a dangerous runner, and he knows the offense.
I am happy with an 11-2 season and a top 10 finish. LSU should have beaten Ark., and the N.C. and Tenn. games should not have been so close but LSU would have to play a perfect game to beat Auburn.
Next year looks very promising.

Let us catch our breath and replace some of the big $$$ (buck) that it takes to love the LSU tigers.
You are a very good sports writer and I enjoy you columns..You have the LSU football program about right.
I to think if Miles does leave, that LSU will be hurt-like a divorce hurts the kids.
But I also think that Les Miles would be crazy to leave LSU for the lost souls of the Maze and Blue..Running around looking for a good college football coach.
Michigan is in a mess,Les Miles would need to be crazy to chose to leave a proven college football program..for a mess..The Michigan football program is in a very messy state..Why would any good college football coach who is already coaching a good football program go there?
I will not believe it until he dies leave..I grade Les Miles LSU 2010 football season a B+.

Mattenburger is a good passer and Jefferson is not..The good passer is what LSU needs to win with..The pro stile attack is the Les Miles offense everyone is looking for.
Mattenburger is the new starting QB in 2011...Book it.

Hale to Victory,I hope that Michigan hires Les Miles and the LSU football fans are at last freed from the Monster cage.
Hallelujahs,to the Sun God, Blue Jeans, and Peace Pipe Pickle head.
I think that Hell door has opened, and the monster might leave.

"B" is about right for a 11-2 season.Boy 11 victory's is a lot.
Lets say "B+" because LSU won some very big game in the 11 wins.Florida,
Alabama,And the other teams that we should have won,and did.
Texas A & M victory in the Cotton Bowl just made every thing end up great.
The 2010 LSU team has a lot to be proud over. B+ because "A" would be Undefeated.
